General description

Sodium phenylbutyrate stimulates urinary nitrogen excretion. It is a prodrug, which undergoes β-oxidation to phenylacetate. Sodium phenylbutyrate is used to treat urea cycle disorder. It might be associated with menstrual dysfunction, amenorrhea and painful mucositis of the esophagus and stomach.

Application

Sodium phenylbutyrate has been used as an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress inhibitor to study the role of ER stress in the expression of betatrophin.

    1. Yes, the information provided by trusted sources, applicable to CAS 1716-12-7 may be applied to this product. Note that not all stability data have been validated. For this product, following reconstitution , stock solutions may be stored for up to 3 months at -20°C in aliquots. No solution stability studies of this material have been conducted at refrigerated temperatures. Please see the link below to review a publication that indicates that suspensions of the therapeutic version of this compound may be quite stable:
