General description
The UMOD ELISA kit provides for the Quantitative measurement of Uromodulin in Cell Culture Supernatants, Plasma and Serum.
Uromodulin also known as Tamm-Horsfall protein (THP) is a glycoprotein localized in the thick ascending limb (TAL) of the Henle loop in the kidney.[1] It is the most abundant protein excreted in the urine.[2] Uromodulin plays a role in preventing urinary tract infections and kidney stones. It aids in immunomodulation and regulation of ion transport in TAL.[2] Uromodulin acts as an inverse biomarker in the early detection of chronic kidney disorders.[1]
