General description

Human MDC / CCL22 enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit is an in vitro assay for the quantitative measurement of macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC) protein in biological samples, such as serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, urine, and/or cell and tissue lysates.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC) signals through the C-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CCR4). It chemo-attracts monocytes, dendritic cells and natural killer (NK) cells and aids in their function. The protein exerts human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) suppressive activity. The 67 amino acid form of MDC displays reduced chemoattractant activity but retains HIV suppressive activity. It is expressed in various cancers and is involved in recruitment of regulatory T cells (Treg) within a tumor.[1][2][3][4]
