General description
Mineralöle gelten für gewöhnlich als Gemisch aus flüssigen Kohlenwasserstoffen. Es wird mittels Destillation und Raffination aus Rohöl gewonnen.
Application
Mineralöl wird verwendet:
- zur Suspendierung von Gelen bei Assays zur Kapillargefäßkontraktion
- in Polymerasekettenreaktionen (PCR)-Reaktionsmischungen für die Bildung einer Dampfsperre zur Verhinderung der Verdampfung der Reaktion bei hohen Temperaturen
- als kontinuierliche Phase zur Verhinderung von Tropfenkoaleszenz in Emulgierungssystemen
Biochem/physiol Actions
Mineralöl gewährleistet bessere Isolationsfestigkeit im Vergleich zu Luft. Bei der Verwendung in einem Netztransformator verbessert es die Wärmeableitung für Spulen.
