General description
Cardiolipin ist in der inneren Membran der Mitochondrien lokalisiert. Es enthält 18 Kohlenstoffatome, 3-Phosphatidylgruppen, die über eine Glycerinbrücke verbunden sind. Cardiolipin ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Enzyms ATP-Synthase.

Cardiolipin ist ein mitochondriales Phospholipid, das in niedrigen Konzentrationen in Säugetiergeweben vorzufinden ist. Häufig handelt es sich dabei um eine Membrankomponente. Hemmt die Zellanhaftung von Fibronektin, Vitronektin und Typ-I-Kollagen.
