Podoplanin ist ein transmembranes Mukoprotein (38 kD), das von dem monoklonalen Antikörper D2-40 erkannt wird. Podoplanin wird in gesundem und malignem lymphatischem Endothel, einschließlich Kaposi-Sarkom, selektiv exprimiert. Podoplanin wird auch in epitheloiden Mesotheliomen und Seminomen exprimiert.
