Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Dear all, I have two question for you about F-11 cells: -) When thawing for the first time, is DMEM+ 2mM Glutamine+ FBS 10% medium used? -) How many passages can be made for these cells? Thank you in advance.

    1 answer
    1. Catalog number 08062601 is from the organization called ECACC. Please contact ECACC directly for detailed, and questions about passage experience with this cell line. https://www.culturecollections.org.uk/about-us/ecacc/

  2. Are there specific requirements for the DMEM variation needed for culturing cells if the cells do not appear healthy after thawing and plating for the first time? I purchased D6429 (Sigma) for this purpose, but the next day, most cells were floating and the ones that were attached did not look 100% healthy. I'm uncertain if it's due to this batch of cells or if the media is off.

    1 answer
    1. Please consider using DMEM from cat#D6546, recommended by the European Collection of Authenticated Cell Cultures (ECACC). This product has a different formulation from D6429 as it contains L-Glutamine in addition to the 2mM Glutamine + 10% FBS recommended to add to DMEM. For more information on the composition of D6546 and D6429, please refer to the following web page: Composition of D6546 and D6429. If using D6429 instead of D6546, it is advisable to consider adding more L-Glutamine as recommended by ECACC. For a list of product numbers, please consult page 66 of 67 in the ECACC lab handbook, available at the following link: ECACC Lab Handbook.
