Normeperidine, or norpethidine, is a toxic primary metabolite of the opioid analgesic meperidine, or pethidine. Meperidine, a synthetic opioid with effects similar to morphine, is used as a painkiller. This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for meperidine testing or isotope dilution methods by GC/MS or LC/MS for clinical toxicology, urine drug testing, pain prescription monitoring, or forensic analysis.
