Biochem/physiol Actions
HIV and HBV reverse transcriptase inhibitor tenofovir isopropylalaninyl phenyl ester with greater antiviral efficacy than tenofovir disoproxil fumarate.
Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF; GS-7340) is an isopropylalaninyl phenyl ester prodrug of the nucleotide analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor (nRTI) tenofovir (TFV) against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV). GS-7340 more efficiently delivers TFV into lymphoid cells and tissues than tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), resulting in greater antiviral efficacy against HIV.
