Description

General description

Benzyl benzoate, an ester of benzyl alcohol and benzoic acid, is widely used as a fragrance fixer, fragrance ingredient and preservative to maintain the potency and stability of a variety of cosmetic formulations.[1] It is also employed as a synthetic musk, acaricide to treat scabies and headlice.[1]

Application

Benzyl benzoate may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in commercial products[2] and pharmaceutical preparations using chromatography techniques.
