General description

Sodium aluminate is used in the synthesis of industrial catalyst mesoporous alumina and various aluminum trihydroxide polymorphs.

Application

Sodium aluminate can be used as a catalyst:
  • In the transesterification of glycerol with dimethyl carbonate to synthesize glycerol carbonate.
  • In the isomerization of D-glucose into D-fructose.
  • To synthesize biodiesel from Jatropha oil via transesterification.
  • To convert alcohols into the corresponding unsymmetrical carbonate esters via carboxymethylation by using dimethyl carbonate.
