General description

This certified solution standard is suitable for a variety of LC/MS or GC/MS testing applications from forensic analysis, clinical toxicology, and pain prescription monitoring to urine drug testing and pharmaceutical research.

Fentanyl belongs to the class of synthetic opioids and shows potent μ-opioid receptor agonistic behavior. It is known for its anesthetic and analgesic properties and is known to be 100 times more potent than heroin. Sold under various trade names including Sublimaze, Duragesic®, Actiq®, and Fentora®, fentanyl is more potent than morphine in analgesic activity.

Application

The certified reference solution (CRM) in solution can also be used as follows:
  • Multi-residue analysis of fentanyl and its derivatives in hair samples using a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) based procedure
  • Determination of heroin, fentanyl, and its 10 analogs, both separately and simultaneously, using a combination of high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection and amperometric detection in seized street samples
  • Development of an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (UHPLC-MS/MS) technique to estimate 31 fentanyl analogs and 6 synthetic opioids in hair samples
  • Separation and quantification of fentanyl, its analogs, and synthetic opioids from whole blood samples by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) following their liquid-liquid extraction
  • Semi-quantitative analysis of urine and analgesic tablet slurry samples for the determination of fentanyl and norfentanyl by paper spray-mass spectrometry(PS-MS)

Features and Benefits

  • Fully characterized under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accreditation
  • Accompanied with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (CoA) with data on stability, homogeneity, accuracy of concentration, uncertainty, and traceability
  • Rigorously tested through real-time stability studies to ensure accuracy and shelf life
  • Gravimetrically prepared using qualified precision balances to ensure minimal uncertainty
  • Flame sealed under argon into ampoules for long-term shelf life
  • Offered in a convenient, DEA-exempt format to improve laboratory efficiency
