General description

Octylmagnesium chloride, also known as octyl Grignard reagent, is a useful organometallic compound in organic synthesis. It is prepared by reacting octyl chloride with magnesium metal under anhydrous conditions. It is widely used as a reagent for various transformations, including nucleophilic addition reactions and carbon-carbon bond formation reactions.

Application

Octylmagnesium chloride solution can be used as a reactant in the functionalization of TiO2. The surface-modified TiO2 is further used in various applications which include membranes, solar cells, and catalysts.
