General description
Dowex 21K XLT is a strong basic anionic exchange resin, selectively adsorbs gold-cyanide complex. Dowex is used as a solid acid catalyst in organic synthesis. Dowex polymer is highly efficient solid acid catalyst for the regioselective ring opening of epoxides to β-hydroxy thiocyanates.
Application
Dowex 21K XLT was used:
- to detect the existence of gold-cyanide complex using Scanning electron microscopy and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy
- to remove excess amount of arsenate during the analysis of arsines using atomic fluorescence spectrometer.
