Gene Information

human ... SREBF1(6720)

General description

Anti-SREBP-1 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total SREBP-1 protein.
Sterol regulatory element binding protein-1 (SREBP1) is located on human chromosome 17p11.2. It belongs to the bHLH-Zip transcription factor family. SREBP-1 is a membrane-bound transcription factor liberated by sterol-regulated proteolysis. It is a 125 kD precursor that is bound to the nuclear envelope and endoplasmic reticulum.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human SREBP-1.

Immunogen Range: 405-454

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sterol regulatory element binding protein-1 (SREBP1) participates in the transcriptional regulation of cellular lipid homeostasis. It controls the hepatic gene expression of lipogenic enzymes and triglyceride deposition in the liver.
