Descripción general

Sauvagine is a polypeptide derived from the frog skin. It belongs to the CRH (corticotropin releasing factor) family. Sauvagine is made of 40 amino acids.[1] It may also be found in the brain of mammals.[2]

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

A peptide related to CRF and urotensin 1 that was first isolated from the skin of the frog Phyllomedusa sauvagei. Potent releaser of ACTH and β-endorphin from the anterior pituitary.
Sauvagine helps to liberate ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) from the pituitary cells of rat.[1] It has several important functions in the cardiovascular, endocrine and renal systems.[2]
