Application

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. Biochem/physiol Actions

ADAP1 (ArfGAP with dual PH domains 1) is a neuronal actin-binding protein consisting of two pleckstrin homology domains, ankyrin repeats and an Arf GAP homology domain. It is a member of AZAP family of phosphoinositide-regulated Arf GAPs. ADAP1 is associated with the regulation of vesicle trafficking and cytoskeletal actin reorganization. It regulates the actin cytoskeleton organization by directly binding to the F-actin in both GAP-dependent and GAP-independent manner. It also negatively regulates ADP-ribosylation factor6 (ARF) by functioning as PIP3 (phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate) dependent ARF6 GAP.
