Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

Inter-α-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain H4 is a protein encoded by the ITIH4 gene in humans. The protein is a 120kDa acute-phase glycoprotein produced primarily in the liver, secreted into the blood, and identified in serum. It is involved in liver development and stabilization of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and its expression is found to be altered in liver disease.[1] This gene is an anti-inflammatory protein and is a substrate for plasma kallikrein (PK). It shows significant sequence identities to heavy chains (HCs) of the inter-α-trypsin inhibitor (ITI) superfamily. Its expression may be used as a biomarker that may facilitate the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
