General description

The Milliflip® filter unit is a disposable, vacuum-driven nonsterile filtration system used in the pre-filtration and clarification of water, buffers and aqueous solutions. It is designed to work with standard 50 mL centrifuge tubes, which eliminates sample transfer.

Application

Nonsterile vacuum filtration of water, buffers and aqueous solutions

Features and Benefits

Eliminates messy sample transfer via simple vacuum-assisted system; attaches to any standard 50 ml centrifuge tube eliminating unnecessary materials and risk of spilage; ideal for nonsterile filtration of aqueous and organic solutions used in analytical sample preparation; convenient blue stand helps to hold the filter unit during filtration;

Questions

11–15 of 15 Questions
  1. Does the Milliflip™ filtration unit need to be used using a tube-to-tube filtration format?

    1 answer
    1. A funnel attachment can be used instead of a sample tube when using the Milliflip filter unit. Funnel attachment info: Steriflip® funnel attachment, 25/pk SC50FL025, 50 mL, non-sterile

      Helpful?

  2. How can I access the filter material?

    1 answer
    1. The filter material is heat-sealed into the holder and can not be removed without mechanical cutting of the housing material and filter material. Milliflip™ filter is designed for filtration and filtrate analysis.

      Helpful?

  3. What 50 mL sample tube types are compatible with the Milliflip™ filter unit?

    1 answer
    1. Milliflip™ filter unit is compatible with double threaded lead tubes. Standard 50 mL tubes come in two thread types: single-lead and double-lead. Milliflip™ filters are compatible only with double-lead threaded tubes. These have two leads, 180º from each other, that wind around the tube from its top. The following chart lists the manufacturers and part numbers of Milliflip™ filters -compatible 50 mL tubes. CAUTION: Leakage may occur if Milliflip™ unit is attached to a single-lead tube.

      Tube | Catalogue Number
      BD Falcon™ | 352070, 352098
      Fisherbrand® | 05-539-6, 05-539-7, 05-539-8, 05-539-9
      Greiner® | 210261, 210270, 227261, 227270
      Iwaki® | 2341-050
      Nunc™ | 334959, 334940
      Perfector Scientific | 2650"

  4. What are the main differences between Milliflip™ and Steriflip® filters?

    1 answer
    1. Milliflip™ filter is a non-sterile version of the Steriflip® filter with the same fundamental product design. The Milliflip filters are bulk packaged unlike individually pouched sterile Steriflip filters.

      Helpful?

  5. What types of samples can be filtered?

    1 answer
    1. Buffers, reagents, solvents and aqueous samples of food/beverage, environmental, pharmaceutical, industrial, and nutraceutical samples. Dilutions (in DI Water) may be needed to process up to 50 mL within 15 minutes for viscous or heavy particle-laden samples.
