Gene Information

human ... GAPDH(2597)

General description

The GAPHD (glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) gene is mapped to human chromosome 12p13.31. GAPHD encodes a multifunctional protein which is a glycolytic enzyme.
This ELISA antibody pair detects human GAPHD. Other species not yet determined.

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Please refer to the attached Protocolfor details.

Biochem/physiol Actions

GAPHD (glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) is associated with the progression of Huntington′s disease by increasing cytotoxicity. Gaphd is often referred to as glycolytic enzyme and catalyzes the sixth step in glycolysis. The Gaphd enzyme possess uracil-DNA glycosylase activity. The enzyme regulates transcription, posttranscriptional gene expression, intracellular membrane trafficking and apoptosis.
