General description

Cilia- and flagella-associated protein 43 (UniProt: E9Q7R9; also known as CFAP43) is encoded by the Cfap43 gene (Gene ID: 100048534) in murine species. CFAP43, a flagellar protein with six WD repeats, is expressed in testis, lung, brain, oviduct, and nasal cavity. It is detected very early during embryonic development It is involved in the regulation of the beating frequency of motile cilia on the epithelial cells. It is also involved in the formation of flagellar axoneme organization and function during spermatogenesis. Mutations in Cfap43 gene have been linked to male infertility. Any malfunction of motile cilia, resulting from defective CFAP43, cause a variety of developmental defects in humans and animal models. These defects may also include impaired mucociliary clearance of airways and hydrocephalus. Cfap43 knockout mice (-/-) exhibit dilation of the third and lateral ventricles. (Ref.: Rachev, E. (2020). Dev. Biol. 459(2); 109-125; Morimoto, Y., et al. (2019). Neurology. 92(20); e2364-e2374; Coutton, C., et al. (2018). Nature Commun. 9; Article 686).

Specificity

Clone 27D5 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects Cilia- and flagella-associated protein 43. It targets an epitope within the C-terminal half.

Immunogen

MBP-tagged recombinant fragment corresponding to 174 amino acids from the C-terminal half of mouse Cilia- and flagella-associated protein 43 (CFAP43).

Application

Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in Mouse testis tissue extracts.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected CFAP43 in Mouse testis tissue extracts.

Tested Applications

Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user.
