General description
Native, bovine basic fibroblast growth factor. A multi-functional factor with chemotactic activity for numerous cell types. A multifunctional factor with chemotactic activity for numerous cell types. Mitogenic to neuroectoderm- and mesoderm-derived cells. Plays a role in the proliferation of neuronal precursors and in neuronal differentiation. A potent angiogenic factor both in vivo and in vitro. Known to activate phopholipase D in endothelial cells. Higher concentrations are found in the brain and pituitary gland. Purified from bovine brain by sequential chromatography.
