General description

Ceramides are prominent lipids of lamellar sheets in stratum corneum. They are heterogeneous molecules belonging to the group of sphingolipids.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) conjugated ceramides are known to influence stabilized plasmid-lipid particle formation (SPLP). The size of the polymer and length of the acyl chain affects the transfection potency of SPLP.
