Desoxymethylsphingosine is an atypical deoxy-sphingoid base.[1]

Application

N-C12-desoxymethylsphingosine or N-lauroyl-1-desoxymethylsphingosine (m17:1/12:0) has been used as a standard in the quantitation of atypical sphingoid bases in biological samples by reverse-phase liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).[2]
