Gene Information

mouse ... Notch1(18128)

General description

The NOTCH1 gene is mapped to human chromosome 9q34.3. In mice, Notch1 is highly expressed in immature neurons of hippocampus. Notch1 is localized to renal epithelial cells and podocytes of metanephros.

Immunogen

Fusion protein amino acids 20-216 (extracellular N-terminus, EGF-like domains 1-5) of mouse Notch1

Biochem/physiol Actions

The Notch signaling pathway regulates endothelial-cell differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis, and is essential for the development, maintenance and remodeling of the vascular system. Notch signaling pathway is involved in the development and progress of cardiovascular diseases. Notch1 function is predominant in developing kidney compared to compared to the mature organ.
