Biochem/physiol Actions

Podoplanin (PDPN) is a transmembrane sialoglycoprotein. It is expressed in many cancers. In cancerous cells, PDPN induces platelet aggregation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. The protein is an immunohistochemical marker of lymphatic vessels. Podoplanin also has a role in embryonic development.
