General description

The Human CRP (C Reactive Protein) ELISA (Enzyme- Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human CRP in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.

Immunogen

Recombinant Human CRP

Application

Human C-Reactive Protein ELISA Kit has been used to measure C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in serum.

Biochem/physiol Actions

C-reactive protein (CRP) is part of the pentraxin protein family and is synthesized in the liver. It is a marker of systemic inflammation and may also have a role in atherosclerosis, stroke and myocardial infarction. Levels of CRP increase during tissue damage and trauma. The protein acts as an opsonin and binds to phospholipids on tumor cell membranes. This may lead to lysis of tumor cells. CRP is also a biomarker of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
