Avidin is a glycoprotein (68 kDa) composed of four identical polypeptides chains isolated from egg whites.Monoclonal Anti-Avidin (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from an immunized mouse.
The antibody binds to the avidin molecule without interfering with the biotin-binding reaction. The product reacts specifically with egg white avidin, ExtrAvidin and their complexes formed with biotin. The antibody shows no cross-reaction with streptavidin.
Immunogen
Purified egg white avidin.
Application
Anti-Avidin-Biotin antibody, Mouse monoclonal has been used for fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis of chromosomes X and 8 in lymphocytes isolated from women
Biochem/physiol Actions
Avidin has a high binding affinity for the vitamin, biotin. Biotin conjugated monoclonal anti-avidin increases specific avidin-biotin complex promoting the sensitivity of avidin-biotin immunoassays.
Physical form
Solution supplied in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA and 15 mM sodium azide.
