General description

Protein S100-A4 (UniProt P26447; also known as Calvasculin, Metastasin, Placental calcium-binding protein, Protein Mts1, S100 calcium-binding protein A4) is encoded by the S100A4 (also known as CAPL, MTS1, P9KA, PEL98) gene (Gene ID 6275) in human. S100A4 belongs to a family of low moleclar weight proteins characterized by two calcium-binding helix-loop-helix EF-hand domains (a.a. 12-47 & 50-85 of human S100A4). S100 proteins exist as non-covalent homodimers with cell-specific expression patterns. S100A4 associates with cytoskeletal proteins, such as myosin and F-actin, as well as other actin-binding proteins such as Talin and integrins, and is involved in controlling not just shape and motility of normal cells, but also plays a role in cancer cells invasion/metastasis.

Specificity

Clone 9D5.1 was raised against human S100-A4 internal fragment that shares high sequence homology with the corresponding region in mouse (96%) and rat (93%) protein.

Immunogen

Epitope: Within EF-hands 1&2.
GST-tagged recombinant human S100A4 internal fragment.

Application

Anti-S100A4 Antibody, clone 9D5.1 is an antibody against S100A4 for use in Western Blotting, Immunocytochemistry.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected S100A4 in HUVECs, HeLa, A431, and NIH/3T3 cells.
