General description

N-Nitrosoanabasine or NAB is a potent carcinogen and biomarker of exposure to cigarette smoke. It′s found in a variety of tobacco products including chewing tobacco and snuff. This Certified Spiking Solution® is suitable for use in LC-MS/MS or GC/MS methods for nicotine testing, environmental monitoring, or clinical and diagnostic testing of nicotine biomarkers.

Application

  • Inhibitory effects in toxicological studies: (S)-N-Nitrosoanabasine (NAB) has been used in research to investigate its inhibitory effects on the metabolism of the tobacco-specific nitrosamine, NNK, by cytochrome P450 2A13, highlighting its utility in carcinogenicity studies and its role as a research chemical in understanding biochemical pathways involved in cancer (Liu et al., 2016).

Tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNA) are among the most important and abundant strongly carcinogenic agents in unburned tobacco. It has been established that 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) induces lung tumors in rodents independent of the route of administration. N'-Nitrosonornicotine (NNN) causes tumors of the

We compared the metabolism in the F-344 rat of the moderately potent esophageal carcinogen N'-nitrosonornicotine (NNN, 2'-(3-pyridyl)-N-nitrosopyrrolidine) and its weakly active homologue N'-nitrosoanabasine (NAB, 2'-(3-pyridyl)-N-nitrosopiperidine). Urine was the major pathway of excretion for both nitrosamines. The major urinary metabolites of
