General description

Lauric aldehyde is one of the main aliphatic green volatile compounds in macerated grape cluster stems. It is also one of the key flavor constituents of grapefruit oil.

Application

  • Utility of ToxTracker in animal alternative testing strategy for fragrance materials.: This study highlights the use of ToxTracker, a suite of reporter cell lines, to evaluate the genetic toxicity of fragrance materials, including lauric aldehyde, offering a potential alternative to animal testing and advancing the safety assessment of consumer products (Thakkar et al., 2023).

  • In vitro evaluation of polymeric micelles based on hydrophobically-modified sulfated chitosan as a carrier of doxorubicin.: Research demonstrates the potential of hydrophobically-modified sulfated chitosan micelles, incorporating lauric aldehyde, for improving the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents, particularly doxorubicin, enhancing drug stability and reducing side effects (Wang et al., 2012).

  • Biocompatibility of injectable chitosan-phospholipid implant systems.: Investigates the biocompatibility of chitosan-phospholipid injectable implants, where lauric aldehyde could play a role in modifying polymer matrices to enhance biocompatibility and drug release profiles, critical for medical implant technologies (De Souza et al., 2009).
