General description

1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorododecyltrichlorosilane(FTCS) is a fluorosilane that can be used as a low surface energy material. It forms a hydrophobic coating with high wetting properties and contact angle.

Application

1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane (FAS21, FDDTS) was used to prepare a hydrophobic surface in a study. Self assembled monolayers of FDDTS were formed on titania substrates to render the surfaces hydrophobic.
FTCS can be incorporated in polyvinylidiene fluoride(PVDF) with titanium oxide(TiO2) which can be used for membrane distillation for water treatment and anti-fouling based application.
