General description

Resomer® L 206 S, Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) is a high-performance biodegradable polymer with an ester-terminated end group. Its properties include good mechanical stability, hydrophobicity, and excellent composting characteristics. It is a non-toxic, biocompatible, and bioresorbable polymer widely used in biomedical applications.

Application

Resomer® L 206 S, Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) is an optically active and semi-crystalline material that can be used in the fabrication of biomedical devices and research tissue engineering solutions, such as orthopedics, soft tissue fixation devices, sports medicine, plates, screws, nails, and stents. This bioresorbable material exhibits a resorption period greater than 3 years whereas the inherent viscosity is 0.8–1.2. The advancement in biomedical applications such as osteoconductivity of these composite materials has improved by the introduction of calcium-based inorganic additives.
