TCF-21 is a mesoderm specific basic-helix-loop-helix transcription factor. It forms a dimer with TCF-3 and binds to Ebox motifs to initiate transcription. It is a 19 kDa protein and expressed in embryonic epicardium, mesenchyme-derived tissues of lung, gut, gonad, and both mesenchymal and glomerular epithelial cells in the kidney.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human TCF21
Biochem/physiol Actions
The TCF21 gene encodes a transcription factor of the basic helix-loop-helix family. The TCF21 product is mesoderm specific, and expressed in embryonic epicardium, mesenchyme-derived tissues of lung, gut, gonad, and both mesenchymal and glomerular epithelial cells in the kidney.
Sequence
Synthetic peptide located within the following region: SNCENGSPQKGRGGLGKRRKAPTKKSPLSGVSQEGKQVQRNAANARERAR
Physical form
Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Basic-helix-loop-helix (bHLH) proteins are transcriptional regulatory proteins that govern cell fate determination and differentiation in a variety of tissues. We have identified a novel bHLH protein, named Pod-1, that belongs to a recently-described subfamily of bHLH proteins that have essential
