General description

Cefalonium is a cephalosporin antibiotic which belongs to the β-lactam class, used in both human and veterinary medicine. Its mode of action involves inhibiting of enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of cell wall peptidoglycan resulting in the lysis of bacteria.

Application

Cefalonium hydrate may be used for the determination of cefalonium in bovine muscle by liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
