General description

Hemagglutinin (HA) is an influenza virus surface glycoprotein. It exists as a trimer with each monomeric unit comprising a base and membrane distal-tip regions.

Specificity

Binds HA epitope tag

Immunogen

proteins contatining the epitope tag sequence

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hemagglutinin (HA) aids viral entry into humans. It mediates viral attachment via sialic acid receptors present on surface glycoproteins. HA-tag is a short sequence that facilitates protein detection. Many recombinant proteins have been engineered to express the HA tag fusion protein.
