General description

Cholecystokinin (CCK) belongs to the gastrointestinal hormone family. It is a neuropeptide hormone and neurotransmitter usually present in gastrointestinal (GI) tract and the central nervous system (CNS). It is produced by neurons, and endocrine cells.

Immunogen

Cholecystokinin (CCK), synthetic peptide

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cholecystokinin (CCK) functions include, trophic effects on pancreas, gall bladder contraction, intestinal motility, and bowel movements. It has roles in various neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders. CCK is satiety peptide and regulates apettite for a short duration. Overproduction of CCK is prominent in metastatic endocrine tumors, and hence it is recognize as a diagnostic marker.

The distribution of gastrin-cholecystokinin-like peptide(s) is reported in brain and hypophysis of the rat. The unlabeled peroxidase-antiperoxidase complex immunohistochemical technique was used. Controls of specificity for various peptides were studied with solid-phase absorption. Colchicine treatment was necessary to obtain positivity
