General description

Taq DNA Polymerase is a thermostable enzyme derived from the thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus. This enzyme is in a recombinant form, expressed in E. coli. Taq DNA polymerase enzyme can withstand high temperatures up to 95 °C without significant loss of activity. Taq DNA Polymerase is a magnesium ion-dependent enzyme. Taq DNA Polymerase possesses 5′→3′ DNA polymerase activity and 5′→3′ exonuclease activity.

Application

CORET PCR kit has been used for the amplification of genomic DNA during the study of genetic diversity in various species of Manilkara zapota.
PCR Core kit with Taq DNA polymerase is suitable for the amplification of genomic DNA, cDNA, or cloned DNA templates. Each component has been tested in the polymerase chain reaction. Optimal concentrations of Taq polymerase, template DNA, primers, and MgCl2 will depend on the specifics of the system. It may be necessary to optimize each component separately, especially the Taq and Mg2+ concentrations and the cycling parameters.

Quantity

Kit contains enough reagents for 250 units of Taq DNA polymerase.

Other Notes

The following reagents are required but not provided in the kit:
  • Mineral Oil, M 8662 (optional)
  • Thermocycler
  • Primers
  • DNA to be amplified
  • Chloroform, C 7559 (optional)
