In the field of optics, gold foil is used in coatings and filters,leveraging its unique reflective properties for applications in optical devicesand sensors.

Application

Gold-foil can be used to fabricate carbide-derived nanoporous carbon based polymeric actuators. Gold-foil modified actuators show high frequency response and low operating voltage.

TiO₂ coated gold foils can used to enhance the electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose.

Gold foil can be used as a reference electrode for the electro-reduction of carbon dioxide.
