General description

Barium titanate(IV) is a ceramic material that can be synthesized by reacting titanium oxide (TiO2) and barium salts in the presence of oleic acid as a stabilizing agent. It has a cubic crystal structure which allows it to have ferroelectric, thermoelectric and piezoelectric properties. It forms a film with intense photoluminescence which can be used for a wide range of electronic applications.[1][2][3]

Application

BaTiO3 can be used in the fabrication of flexible electronic devices with improved dielectric strength.[4][5]

Physical form

Some agglomeration of nanoparticles may occur during the drying process, yielding particle sizes of up to 75 microns. These agglomerates can be broken up through ultrasonication, ball milling, or dispersion in solution with a surfactant.

  1. Dear, I'm looking for monodisperse microparticles (1-10 mu meter) with high dielectric constant. I found the BaTiO3 on the website with a dielectric constant of 150, but how monodisperse are the particles and are there alternatives?

    1. In reference to the Barium titanate compounds, product 208108 may be a better option. This product has a very tight range in terms of particle size, with the average being 1.4 µm.

      Lot MKCT5369 - while not published here, the histogram for the starting material shows that 80 % of the particles are between 0.54 microns and 3.60 microns

    1. The band gap energy is 3.2 eV and the electron affinity is 4.15 eV for barium titanate. However, these properties are not measured for Product 467634, Barium titanate (IV).
