Application
Nystatin suspension has been used:
- to inhibit caveolin-mediated endocytosis
- as a component of Eagle′s minimum essential medium (EMEM)
- to enumerate lactic acid bacteria (LAB)
- in preventing cell culture contamination and inducing interleukin (IL)-1, IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor a secretion in toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2)-expressing THP1 cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Nystatin is a polyene, broad-spectrum antibiotic, which modifies the microstructure of lipid rafts. It can sequester cholesterol present on the cell membrane of eukaryotes. Nystatin regulates immune responses through cytokine signaling, lymphocyte activation and pathogen recognition.

It is 0.1μ filtered and cell culture tested.
