Cell Line Description

The hybridoma line OX-24 was developed by immunizing BALB/c mice with Factor H followed by fusion of spleen cells with NS0 mouse myeloma cells. The antibody was shown to detect the human complement control protein, Factor H. OX-24, which is also known as MRC-OX24 was reported to increase cofactor activity of Factor H in Factor I-mediated cleavage of soluble C3b. The antibody inhibited the binding of radioactive-labelled Factor H to surface-bound C3b. OX-23 (Sigma Catalogue number. 00010402) was shown to decrease this inhibition.
