The water-specific channel Aquaporin 4 is located in various tissues including the gastro intestinal tract, kidney and brain. It is an osmoreceptor which regulates body water balance and mediates water flow within the central nervous system. The localization of AQ4 to astrocyte endfeet makes it an excellent marker for astrocyte distal processes.
Specificity
Recognizes Aquaporin 4.
The antibody has not yet been tested for cross-reactivity to other species. The immunogen shows 94% similarity to mouse, 88% to bovine, 86% to rabbit and 82% to human AQP4 (hAQP4).
Immunogen
Epitope: C-Terminus
Synthetic Linear Peptide
Application
Anti-Aquaporin 4 Antibody is an antibody against Aquaporin 4 for use in WB.

Proper neuronal function is directly dependent on the composition, turnover, and amount of interstitial fluid that bathes the cells. Most of the interstitial fluid is likely to be derived from ion and water transport across the brain capillary endothelium, a
Absence of glial ?-dystrobrevin causes abnormalities of the blood-brain barrier and progressive brain edema.

The serine protease tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is used as a thrombolytic agent in the management of ischemic stroke, but concerns for hemorrhagic conversion greatly limits the number of patients that receive this treatment. It has been suggested that the
