Application

LUDOX® TM-40 colloidal silica has been used:
  • As a colloidal silica template for the synthesis of carbon nanocapsules.[1]
  • In the synthesis of conducting nanocomposite polymer foams (hybrid of carbon black/silica/polymer) used as gas sensors.[2]
  • As a silicon source for the synthesis of Zwitterion-stabilized silica nanoparticles. [3]
  • As a silicon source for the fabrication of transparent superhydrophilic/superhydrophobic silica nanoparticulate thin films.[4]
  • In the synthesis of microporous titanosilicate ETS-10 used as a catalyst in Knoevenagel condensation reaction.[5]

    1. The density of the silica particles in this preparation is not determined. Silica dioxide products of similar particle size, such as 637238, list a density range of 2.2–2.6 g/cm3.
