Application

A highly fluorescent dye, useful in marking nerve cells.
Lucifer yellow CH has been used to stain nerve cells[1] and to demonstrate electrical coupling between hamster oocytes and cumulous cells during meiotic maturation in vivo and in vitro.[2]
Lucifer Yellow CH is mainly used as a tracer dye and useful in marking nerve cells.

General description

Lucifer Yellow CH is the hydrazine (-NH-CO-NH-NH2) form of the dye compared to Lucifer Yellow VS, which is the vinyl sulfone (-Ph-SO2-CH=CH2) form. Lucifer Yellow CH dilithium salt is a fluorescent dye(1) comprising of amino, sulfo and phenyl-N-hydrazinocarbonylamino substituents on the naphthalimide chromophore. The hydrophilic nature of Lucifer yellow CH underlies its numerous applications as a stain of living cells and tissues.
