Gene Information

General description

Olfactory receptor 10G4 (UniProt Q8NGN3; also known as Olfactory receptor OR11-278) is encoded by the OR10G4 gene (Gene ID 390264) in human. Olfactory receptors belong to the class A rhodopsin-like family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). The human genome contains approximately 800 odorant receptor (OR) genes that have been shown to exhibit high genetic variability. Human has approximately 400 intact ORs, but each individual has a unique set of genetic variations that lead to variation in olfactory perception. Odorant molecule binding induces an OR conformational change and interaction with the olfactory-type G protein, initiating downstream signaling that eventually results in an action potential from the depolarized OR neuron to the brain. Olfactory receptor 10G4 is a 311-amino acid protein with 4 extracellular domains (a.a. 1-23, 74-98, 160-196, 258-268), 7 transmembrane segments (a.a. 24-44, 53-73, 99-119, 139-159, 197-216, 237-257, 269-289), and 4 cytoplasmic regions (a.a. 45-52, 120-138, 217-236, 290-311).

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the C-terminal cytoplasmic tail of human Olfactory Receptor 10G4.

Application

Anti-Olfactory Receptor 10G4 Antibody, clone 6C11.1 is an antibody against Olfactory Receptor 10G4 for use in Western Blotting.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in human olfactory tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected Olfactory Receptor 10G4 in 10 µg of human olfactory tissue lysate.

Target description

~40 kDa observed. Target band size appears larger than the calculated molecular weight of 34.57 kDa due to glycosylation.
