Application

3-Methyl-1,5-pentanediol can be used as a reactant to synthesize:
  • Enantioenrich saturated aza-heterocycles by reacting with various amines in the presence of iridium catalyst.
  • Polyesters containing carbon-carbon double bonds via bis(nonafluorobutanesulfonyl)imide-catalyzed polycondensation with unsaturated cyclic anhydrides.
  • α, ω-Dibromides by treating with aqueous HBr and an organic solvent.
