General description

Anti-Rab5 antibody, Mouse monoclonal (mouse IgG3 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma Rab5-65 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells (NS1 cells) and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to C-terminal region of human Rab5, conjugated to KLH. Rab5 is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues. It localizes mainly to early endosomes, but is also present on the plasma membrane.
Rab5 (Ras-related protein Rab-5A) is a small GTPase , that has three isoforms - Rab5A, Rab5B and Rab5C. It is upregulated in several secretory cells. It is located on human chromosome 3p24.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to the C- terminal region of human Rab5, conjugated to KLH.

Application

Anti-Rab5 antibody, Mouse monoclonal has been used in:
  • enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • immunocytochemistry
  • co-immunoprecipitation assay
  • western blotting
  • immunofluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

Among the proteins recruited by the GTP-bound active Rab5 are Rabaptin-5 and early endosome antigen 1(EEA1).
Rab5 (Ras-related protein Rab-5A) controls endosomal trafficking. Overexpression of Rab5A leads to metastasis and poor prediction in colorectal cancer patients. It modulates common Rab5 effectors to control the secretory pathways. It controls the homotypic integration between early endosomes and also the integration between endocytic vesicles and early endosomes.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
