General description

The Six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 2 (STEAP2) is a metalloreductase that belongs to the STEAP family. It is localized in secretory and endocytic pathway organelles. The STEAP2 gene is mapped to human chromosome 7q21.13.

Immunogen

a 16 amino acid peptide from near the carboxy-terminus of human STEAP2.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The Six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 2 (STEAP2) being localized in Golgi membrane and cytoplasmic vesicles, may have a critical role in the endocytic pathway. It is highly expressed in prostate carcinomas (PCa) and promotes tumor invasion and migration. Along with STEAP3 and 4, STEAP2 levels are implicated in favoring copper and iron uptake. Studies on targeted STEAP2 knockdown have reported a reduction in PCa progression.

Linkage

The action of this antibody can be blocked using blocking peptide SBP4307.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide
