Gene Information
human ... GRK5(2869)
General description
GRK5 (G protein-coupled receptor kinase 5) belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor kinase family, and shows major expression in normal human heart. This protein contains a nuclear localization sequence and hence localizes in nucleus.
Biochem/physiol Actions
GRK5 (G protein-coupled receptor kinase 5) controls the functions of catecholamines, which bind and activate β-adrenergic receptors, and have cardiac inotropic and chronotropic actions. It is responsible for the uncoupling from G protein by facilitating β1-adrenergic receptor phosphorylation and β-arrestin recruitment. This protein plays a key role in growth and metastasis in prostate cancer, where it phosphorylates moesin.† A genome-wide association study (GWAS) has shown that rs10886471 variant in GRK5 gene is linked with susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

G protein-coupled receptor kinases (GRK) regulate diverse cellular functions ranging from metabolism to growth and locomotion. Here, we report an important contributory role for GRK5 in human prostate cancer. Inhibition of GRK5 kinase activity attenuated the migration and invasion of

We hypothesized that genetic variations in the adrenergic signaling pathway and cytochrome P450 2D6 enzyme are associated with new-onset atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting and were treated with perioperative β-blockers (BBs). Two cohorts of

A genome-wide association study had showed G-protein-coupled receptor kinase 5 (GRK5) rs10886471 was related to the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) through upregulated GRK5 mRNA expression. Rs10886471 is located in the intron region of GRK5. However, the mechanism

Guanine nucleotide binding protein (G-protein)-coupled receptor kinases (GRKs) specifically phosphorylate the agonist-occupied form of G-protein-coupled receptors such as the beta 2-adrenergic receptor and rhodopsin. The best characterized members of this family include the beta-adrenergic receptor kinase (beta ARK) and rhodopsin

Human neutrophils express several distinct guanine nucleotide binding (G)-protein-coupled receptors that mediate their responsiveness to chemoattractants. Phosphorylation by receptor-specific and second messenger-activated protein kinases is a common mechanism for regulation of G-protein-coupled receptors. To explore the possibility that chemoattractant receptors
